Skateboarding fools!

The other morning Jacob spotted Daddy's skateboard in the garage and wanted to ride it.  SO, we suited up in our gear and got the board out.  The boys had fun playing around on it and I thought they looked pretty cute in their get up.  I think my favorite part were the gloves that Aidan wore. They actually came with Jacob's stuff, but he didn't want to wear them.  But Aidan did!  Here are some pictures of my skateboarding studs.

Aidan, sporting the gloves, gives the board a try

This idea didn't last long.  I think Jacob bailed first.

So, Jacob may need to work on the balance thing a bit.

One of the cutest boarders out there!

Total concentration.  And better balance while sitting and riding it.

Big Milestones!!

A week ago Monday, so a week and a day ago, the boys, myself and Aunt Lori went out to IKEA to pick up our first Big Boy bed.  (I thank Ben and Melissa Hurst for the suggestion to go to IKEA.)  We have a big list of milestones that I hope to accomplish before #3 arrives, so it was time to cross one off of our list.  Cody and I had gone two weeks ago to look at the bed and Jacob didn't seem real interested.  But that Monday morning, Jacob and I were conversing and I asked him again if he was ready to sleep in a big boy bed.  He answered, ummm, yes!  I took that answer and ran.  We immediately got ready and headed out to buy the bed.  That night Daddy put it together with the "help" of the boys.  There are three lengths the bed adjusts to, the largest being a twin size bed.  Awesome!  Jacob slept the first night in the bed and then had trouble the next nap time and bed time.  (He ended up back in his crib)  So I thought maybe he wasn't ready after all.  But the next day and from then on he's been in his Big Boy Bed!  It took a little adjustment, which I expected.  But overall he has done great.  The funny thing is that he won't get out of it.  When he wakes up he still calls for me to come in and get him.  I am thankful for that, for I have a feeling it will be the opposite with Aidan . . .

Master Climber

So, our second born is giving us a run for our money.  This child, who can't walk down the hallway without tripping and falling at least three times, seems to have a super power when it comes to climbing.  He will climb on anything and everything - and hasn't gotten hurt once!  (knock on wood)  It's actually very exhausting, for me that is.  Below are a few instances of his super power.    Now I know how strange objects, like socks and dimes, have made their way into Flicka's bowl.  I did move the wooden chair that Jacob is standing on after this climb.  And notice the chairs on the dining room table - those have been that way for a long time (except when we eat), but now he can climb up in his booster seat and then on the table.  Ugh.  The picture of him on the piano actually occurred while I was typing this.  Lovely.  He climbs on the couch, then onto the end table and then onto the piano.  How does he not get hurt?  And what is the solution?  Remove all furniture from the house, lock him in a padded room or sign him up for rock climbing?  Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Anyway, the last pictures are just of him using a mixing bowl for a hat.  I thought it was funny how he left it on while playing with the tractor.  He is a wild and crazy kid!

New obsession . . .

And I'm not ashamed to admit it.  On Sunday I picked up the doppler from our friend, Tamara.  I LOVE it!  It is so much fun to be able to hear the heartbeat whenever I want too!  I'm pretty good about it, I don't sit around all day just listening - although I think I could.  I check it in the morning and then at night before I go to bed.  It's awesome.  The baby's heartbeat has remained around the 165bpm mark.  Thanks again Tam!

9 weeks and 4 days

Yesterday I had my second doctors appointment.  Aside from being sick, everything is going well.  Only I can still gain weight despite vomiting  every day.  (Not that I am really complaining - I understand that it is important and it was only 1 pound.  I just found it humorous)  I also was able to the heartbeat - 170 bpm.  What an amazing sound!  A sound that I will be able to hear often.  A good friend of ours has a doppler and offered it to us for this pregnancy.  I am very excited about that.  Thanks again Tam!  Not much more to report this go round.  There really isn't anything too exciting to share yet at this stage - I figure posting about how many times a day I vomit isn't really something everyone wants to hear about.  I did start a generic form of Zofran, 8mg.  It seemed to help a bit this morning with nausea, but I still threw up my entire lunch.  Pizza is now on my list of "does not come back up easy."  I'm still hopeful - if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.  Thanks again for all of your notes of congratulations and thoughts and prayers - I really appreciate it!  I we could all just pray this nausea would end, that would be awesome.

Air Hockey Maniac!

I am still behind on getting any sort of video on the blog.  ( I will shamelessly admit I have no idea how)  But my sister can and she posted a cute one of Jacob playing air hockey.  Jacob has great hand/eye coordination which comes in handy for sports.  SO, go to the Knight Family link and check out our little air hockey guru.

That's right . . .#3 is on the way!

Cody and I are very excited and can't wait until mid February for his/her arrival.  It is still early, I am only 5 weeks along - but I couldn't resist sharing our news.  I would love prayers for a healthy pregnancy.  Some of you may remember that I developed cholestasis of pregnancy with Aidan.  This is a condition which the normal flow of bile in the gallbladder is affected by the high amounts of pregnancy hormones.  It makes you itch uncontrollably and can be damaging to the baby.  Typically it doesn't begin until the last trimester.  From what I have read I may have a 60-70% chance of developing it again.  Ugh!  It's on my list of things to talk about with the doctor.  I plan on keeping everyone updated during this journey.
Thanks, in advance, for all of your prayers and support.

Indie Rae

We had the pleasure of hanging out with one of my best friends Lisa and her daughter Indie this week.  Lisa and Indie were in town from  Minnesota visiting family while her husband, Jason, taught at a church camp.  I couldn't believe how big Indie was!  She is adorable, crawling all over the place, giggling and making all sorts of cute sounds.  Two of my favorite things about Indie are her little laugh she gives when you play peek-a-boo (I swear you just say the word and she laughs!) and the way she loves to watch her "Daddy videos".  Lisa brought along videos on her iPod of Indie and Jason playing together and Indie absolutely loves watching them.  They are only a total of about 3 minutes and they are so cute!  Jacob enjoyed loving on her and was very sweet with her.  One of the first things Aidan did was throw a ball at her head and knocked her over.  I was horrified but Lisa assured me it would make a funny story!  Maybe someday I will be able to laugh at it.  (In his defense, he really wasn't being a bully, he just didn't understand that Indie is too little to play catch.)  We all enjoyed spending time together.  I hope they will be back soon for another visit!

Here is Indie, can you guess what she is doing in the first picture?

Sucker Lovin'

Aidan has recently discovered that he loves suckers!  He has only had about a total of one and a half suckers and it will definitely be a special treat - one because he really doesn't need any additional sugar in his system (he's hard enough to slow down!) and two because the sticky mess isn't so fun to clean up. :-)  Jacob also enjoys them, but not nearly as much as Aidan.  Here are some photos of Aidan enjoying his new love . . .

*the messy face is from our casserole dinner, not the sucker

I love my new tasty treat!

You think you can get my sucker away from me . . .go ahead and try it!

The sugar is starting to kick in and I LOVE it!!

This is SO good!

Devouring my delicious sucker!

This and That

The boys and I have been having some fun this past week.  I bought a few new things - gotta love the Target Dollar Bins!!  We've had fun with punch balloons, which by the way are not easy to blow up!  And even though we have a big normal pool, it is easier to swim in a plastic pool.  The boys have had a blast swimming together.  Finally, Jacob and Aidan painted some great pictures with finger paint.  And surprise, surprise, Aidan had to taste it!  Silly nut.

Huntington Beach

The day after Disneyland, the whole family went to Huntington Beach.  We met up with more family - more cousins - Steve, Karen and their daughters.  The boys loved hanging out with them and they were so great to our boys!  The boys also absolutely love the beach!  Jacob loves the sand and enjoys being in the water as long as someone is holding him.  Aidan also loves the sand and has no fear when it comes to the water.  He would run into the ocean all by himself if we would let him.  It was so much fun to watch the boys and play with them.
